The 50 leva of 1992 honours neither a politician nor a general but a publisher: the front bears a portrait of Hristo G. Danov, called the father of Bulgarian book publishing and the «Bulgarian Gutenberg». The back continues the theme with a 19th-century printing press.
Held to the light, it shows a watermark of a rampant lion and a dark security strip with the microtext BNB. The note was in circulation from 1 November 1992 to 31 July 1998.
For a Bulgaria collection this is a step in the 1991–1997 series, and for a «books and printing» theme a note devoted to a publisher and the printing press. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
Every item in the VPcoins catalogue tells a small story about its country and era.
